Johannes Sidler, 4 June 1812 Zürich marriage court minute


4 June 1812 Zürich marriage court minutes:

1. Paternity case brought about by Margaretha Beerli and Johannes Sidler both of Ottenbach.

2. Both applied for marriage. 

3. Matrimonial Law states that the in-law relationship are forbidden.

4. Because they didn't know the law their punishment is mitigated.

5 Sidler is recognized as the father 

6. The child is awarded to Johannes Sidler for his sole maintenance.

7. Their application for marriage vows shall be cancelled. They are forbidden any contact with each other. 

8. Sidler shall pay 20 francs ($70 in today's money) for childbed costs and compensation of 32 francs (not sure what the term childbed means?)

9. As punishment Johannes Sidler shall be fined 24 francs and if unable to pay - 10 days imprisonment and labor in the penitentiary while Margaretha is funded 16 francs or 7 days imprisonment and labor in the penitentiary. 

10. Both shall be ordered to report to the parish office of their parish with the addition of Stillsänder and judicial and clerical fees shall be born and paid by both parties.
