Felix Urmi abt 1595 - before 1657

When Adelheita Grob or Grobin was born on 9 January 1595, in Knonau, Zürich, Switzerland, her father, Leinhard Grob, was 41 and her mother, Barbara Frick, was 38. She married Felix Urmi on 11 February 1616, in Knonau, Zürich, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. The Sidler line in this blog is related to Adelheita Grob through Heinrich Grob, b 1605

The ages of the children indicate a registration year of 1657. According to this, Felix Urmi would have been expelled in 1635 (the family is still listed in the 1634 population register). Gorius/Gregorius appears to have married [§] (the wife may have died before 1657) and moved away from Knonau in 1646. The eldest daughter was only 7 years old in 1635: all 3 daughters still alive at this time must have moved away with their parents. It is assumed that all 4 children settled in Alsace with other Anabaptists in 1657. Nothing is said about the whereabouts of the parents - they probably died before 1657.

[§] Vmtl. Knonau 14.01.1647: Urmi, Gorius, servant at the Buch farm, married Bär, Margaretha “a Widerteüffers daughter from the Ütliberg”, both still young and unmarried.

[There is also a dossier in the Zurich State Archives with details from the period 1640-1679 (thanks to griffy for the reference).

The text reports (summary in English):

The ages of the children indicate a registration year of 1657. According to this, Felix Urmi has been expelled in 1635 and moved away (the family is still listed in the 1634 population register). Gorius/Gregorius seems to have married (the wife may have died before 1657) and moved away from Knonau in 1646. The eldest daughter was only 7 years old in 1635: all 3 daughters still alive at this time will likely have moved away with their parents. It is assumed that all 4 children are settled in Alsace with other Anabaptists prior to 1657. Nothing is said about the whereabouts of the parents - they probably died before 1657.

Kent:
Felix was a Täufer or an Antabaptist. The above document is from a two page list of Antabaptist in Knonau. During this time they were persecuted and eventually many left the country including Felix.
Anabaptism (from Neo-Latin anabaptista,[1] from the Greek ἀναβαπτισμός: ἀνά 're-' and βαπτισμός 'baptism';[1] German: Täufer, earlier also Wiedertäufer)[a] is a Christian movementwhich traces its origins to the Radical Reformation in the 16th century. Anabaptists believe that baptism is valid only when candidates freely confess their faith in Christ and request to be baptized. Commonly referred to as believer's baptism, it is opposed to baptism of infants, who are not able to make a conscious decision to be baptized. Wikipedia
