Christine Kohler was born 13 February 1833, Graben, Baden Germany to Johann Martin
Kohler and Christina Scholl. She married Friedrich Zimmermann (who was
born 27 July1823) on 20 March 1851 in Graben, Karlsruhe, Baden,
Germany. Her first 6 children were born in Graben. Her last two were
born in America.
Sometime
after June 1860 after her son Simon was stillborn in Graben the family
immigrated to Nebraska, USA. We are not sure of the date but the family
ended up living next door to her half brother Philipp Scholl. Christine
died 26 March 1900 in Arago, NE. (See map of Arago, NE) She was buried in the Zion Bethel Cemetery with her husband and son Julius.

Baptismal sponsors: Wilhelm Becker, knife smith, and his wife Maria Elisabeth Rödel, and Simon Süß, farmer, and his wife Margaretha Brecht.

Notes: Wilhelm Becker, citizen and cutler in Graben was born 21 Sept 1819 and died 14 Jan 1892 in Arago, Nebraska. The family emigrated to America 13 March 1877. The ship "W A Scholten" arrived in New York 4 April 1877; on board were Wilhelm Becker, 57; Elisabeth 55; Hermann 23; Maria 20; Lydia 14; Anna 9.
