Melchior was born 27 December 1788 to Rudolf Sidler and Elisabetha Sidler. He was their last child. Julius Billeter made the following note:
"seit 1812 Schreiner in Wien"
Translation:
since 1812 carpenter in ViennaThe Zürich Archives were searched for a marriage for Melchior and was not found. He may have married in Vienna since he worked there. We do have a record of his death in the Ottenbach record as 13 June 1843. Sometimes pastors found about a person's death in another part of the country and recorded it in their parish of birth. Melchior lived 54 years 5 months 18 days.
