Stevens Moore Alvord 1933–2004—Stevens passed away July 9, 2004 in Burbank, California. He was born February 4, 1933 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Harold Alvord and Blanche Moore. Steve proudly served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. He was a professional Real Estate Broker, serving as the President of the Glendale Board of Realtors in 1973. Steve was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many callings. He had a strong work ethic and a generous heart. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, June Hales Alvord; three daughters, Ruth (Ed) Apffel of Carlsbad, California, Lisa (Juan) Salomon of Glendale, California, and Joy (Eddie) Ortiz of Palmdale, California; three sons, Kurt (Cherie) Alvord of Palmdale, California, Hal (Diane) Alvord of Van Nuys, California, and Bruce (Amiee) Alvord of Kiev, Ukraine; twenty-three grandchildren; sister, Beverly (Preston) Richards of Salt Lake City, Utah; and former wife, Sue Burkhalter Alvord of La Crescenta, California.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Blanche Alvord; son, Justin Leon Peterson; and grandson, Mark Daniels Alvord....
Services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2004, at noon, at the Glendale Stake Center, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1101 N. Central Ave., Glendale.... Interment will be at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
Note: The missing element in this obituary is Steve's keen wit. He made gospel doctrine fun to go to because he had a sense of humor that everyone enjoyed. His humor didn't hurt of offend but was a natural way of looking at the funny side of life. Steve was upbeat and had a broad smile.
