Mary Scott, 1924, 58 years old |
Mary Stephen was
born in 1866 in Brechin, Angus, Scotland to James and Mary Stephen. Mary was the second of 3 children.
In 1881 she was 15 and the census lists her occupation as that of a milliner or one who designs and makes hats.
She Married Arthur Hardie Scott January 31, 1888 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Dundee, Scotland.
In the 1891 census Arthur is 30, Mary is 25 and they had a four year old son named James. Can James be 4 and legitimate? Not sure. The date of the 1891 census was the night of 5 April 1891. The Sherrard Family tree has his date and place of birth as 16 Dec 1890 in Laurencekirk, Kincardine, Scotland. The 1901 census lists him as being 14 or born in 1887. That agrees with the 1891 census.
