Ruth Eggleston Ferrin, born September 11, 1937 in Salt Lake City, to Theron J. and Emily J. Eggleston, passed from this life on November 10, 2014. She graduated from East High School where she enjoyed playing trombone. She married her high school sweetheart, Clyde Roy Ferrin, August 13, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home and raised five children in Tooele where she enjoyed supporting her husband and children in the Tooele High School Band program. She loved traveling/camping with her family. She was an expert seamstress and many friends and family were the recipients of this marvelous talent.
She was graduate of Weber State University in Elementary Education. Ruth served in various church callings and served a mission with her husband in the Samoa Apia Mission in 1998. She received great fulfillment from serving in the temples and shared her strong testimony of the Savior and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints through her service to others. She found great joy in raising and teaching her children and grandchildren who loved her dearly.
She is survived by her sons Craig (Tammy) Ferrin, Bart (Tonya) Ferrin, daughters Kristeen (Lyle) Phelps, Heidi (Loren) Clark and Connie (Gregory) Lemon, 24 grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Ruth and Roy also shared their home with three native-American students; Mamie Begay, Dennis Billie and Cori Dandy. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two grandsons.
Services will be held Friday, November 14 at the LDS church house at 4980 West 3285 South in West Valley City at 11:00AM. Viewing will be held Thursday, November 13, 6:30-8:00PM and before the services on Friday from 9:30-10:30AM at the same location. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens. She is loved and will be missed.
