Her first husband was Herman Eitzen who was born in Washington and whose parents came from Germany. Herman says he is married in his 1917 draft registration. Herman and Lillian are found together in the 1920 census. He is the proprietor of a rubber goods business in Portland. However in the 1930 census she is living with her father and has kept her marital name of Eitzen but Herman has gone missing. Sometime between 1920 and 1930 something happened to Herman.
In the 1929 Portland directory Lillian is listed as a widow.
In 1930 her father Charles is 74, she is 41. They are living together. Her father is not working, speaks German and doesn't have a job while she is still working in the doctor's office as a nurse assistant. Charles owns his own home.
Emma died 9 March 1936 and a year and a half later Augustus marries Lillian. Emma's burial site is unknown.
She married Augustus Scholl on the 6th October 1937 Tacoma, Pierce, Washington.
In the 1940 census Augustus is living in Portland, OR with his wife Lillian and his father-in-law, Charles.
Lillian graduated after 4 years in high school. In 1940 she was a secretary to a medical doctor in Portland. She earned $1,040 a year. She maintained that job for at least 10 years.
