Feb. 16, 1919-Feb. 15, 2007
John Helmut Kuepper passed
away Feb. 15, 2007, in Salt Lake City., at home from a short battle with
cancer. John was born on Feb. 16, 1919, in Essen, Germany, the son of
Paulus Heinrich Kuepper and Maria W. Batterman Kuepper. Married Barbara
R. Fromm on July 19, 1940 (later divorced); he then married Jaqueline
Hansen on Oct. 22, 1947. John retired from the Salt Lake City
Corporation after 30 years of service. After retiring he formed his own
paint-stripping business.
John was a kind and compassionate
person who made friends easily. His greatest joy came from helping
others, both friends and neighbors, whom he loved so dearly. Those who
knew him sought his counsel often and he would do anything to help them.
One of his special places was the cabin he and Jackie built together in
Oakley, Utah. He loved fishing as well as hunting. His greatest thrill
was traveling throughout the world with his "harem" and friends. He
enjoyed his yearly trip to Hawaii, especially the year he renewed his
vows with his love, Jackie, of 50 years at the time. He will be greatly
missed by those who love him. He is survived by his son Michael Craig
Kuepper and stepson Steven Kemp, nine grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren, and good friend, Inez.
Preceded in death by his wife, Jackie, one grandchild, his parents, two sisters, three brothers, and his loved ones Dorothy Bangerter and Shirley Baraclough. Services will be held Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, 12 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Viewing was held at the Mortuary Sunday, Feb. 18, and on Monday one hour prior to the service. Interment was at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary.
