Gayle Selma Thomsen was born on 20 December 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was baptized in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. In January 1937, her family moved to Tacoma, Washington. Not long after that, they moved to Eugene, Oregon and finally settled in Los Angeles, California. In 1947, she began dating Donald Lewis Blackmer who had recently completed his honorable service in the United States Navy following World War II. They were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on 18 October 1949. They settled in Pico Rivera, California where they raised their ten children (five boys and five girls). She loved her husband and children and was a great homemaker. Half of her children served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she corresponded with them faithfully. She was an avid reader and always desired to travel the world. She accompanied one of her children to England for vacation in 1989. Following the birth of her tenth child, she got diabetes. She fought the disease for the rest of her life. She had a stroke in February 1996 and passed away two months later. She was interred at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California. Her husband passed away in 2001 and is buried beside her. They are both greatly loved by their descedant's. Clay Lewis Blackmer
