In the 1930 census Delos claimed Nellie and his two children are living with him but this was not true.
Nephi became the step parent of Beth and Max and got along well with both children. Nellie and Nephi had two more children: Mark and Bert. Mark is two years older than Bert. The only thing negative Bert recalled about their relationship was that one time Nephi announced that he was going deer hunting with his boys and Nellie questioned why. Nephi responded, "Well whose vacation is this anyway?"
Max's death in an 1949 airplane accident was very difficult for Nellie. In fact it hit the whole family hard because everyone looked up to him.
In spite of her husband's inactivity in the church Nellie was a covenant keeping, temple going member of the church who taught her children faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. That is evident today.
