Betty Hill Bingham 1922 - 2007

Betty Hill Bingham, 85, of Caldwell passed away peacefully on July 31, 2007. Betty was born on April 22, 1922, at Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Harold and Bertha Stokes Hill. Betty graduated with honors from Weber State College. She married Calbert Edward Bingham in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, Aug. 7, 1942. They moved from Ogden to the Caldwell area in 1959 where her husband continued to work for the Union Pacific Railroad.      For nine years, Betty was the executive secretary for the administrator of the Caldwell Hospital. She was a worker in the Boise LDS Temple. Betty enjoyed family hunting and fishing trips and was a wiz at crossword puzzles. Betty was a wonderful mother to Stephen Bingham of Boise, Janice Johansen (Mark) of Nampa, Frances Christensen (Wayne) of Boise and Harold Bingham (Laurie) of Homedale. She was a loving grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.      The services will be at the Middleton Stake Center at 10 a.m. Saturday Aug. 4. The address is 23644 US Highway 30. Because of road construction use exit 26 off the freeway and go north to the chapel. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.      Because Betty was a two time cancer survivor, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. "I worked for the railroad several times, several different departments. Then, when Daddy went overseas, I quit the railroad—was a little tired of it—and was secretary to the dean of Weber College, which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed the railroad, too, because you really made money. The women made the same as the men—we were paid by the job. I worked for the railroad for 7 ½ years. I liked the money." Betty Hill Bingham
